What People Are Saying

Dear Lilian and Andy,
Thank you very much for sharing the information in your workshop. I very much enjoyed participating. Knowing that there are more people convinced that Parkinson’s is a disease that can be neutralised by taking the right steps- which may be different for everyone – is giving me the strength to keep on fighting this ‘dis-ease’. I’ll participate in your course sometime later when I need some extra ‘hope’!
Best regards,
Yolanda

My story, short

After a personal crisis when my husband was diagnosed with cancer, I began investigating how prolonged survival-mode stress drives chronic symptoms and diseases. In 2015 I ran a pilot with people living with Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, burning mouth syndrome and PTSD showed consistent symptom reductions using stress-informed coaching approaches.

I wrote a book based on client interviews, figured out the theory behind chronic illness and build up knowledge and a toolbox for people to use even they have severe diagnoses, and now run live Overcome courses, 1:1 symptom therapy and free HOPE workshops.
If people with Parkinson’s can get help so can you.

It is time to spread this knowledge to
all people.

My work is aimed at educated people who want to build their own proof that stress is driving symptoms and learn practical tools to restore calm.

I’m an MSc in Biology turned certified coach and therapist who has spent the last decade helping people with chronic symptoms uncover stress-driven roots of their conditions.

A man with Parkinson’s, who had endured high stress on his job, chasing deadlines and striving to be the best, before he embarked on this journey.
Now he has learned to keep the stress down for longer periods

“For the first time in my life I am Okay."

I feel like I have opened a door to come home to myself.

“I have become aware of my personality that contribute to overthinking”

My three top points from the course are:
1. Finding a community that match my own situation.

2. Learning that my condition is LTSD  (Life-accumulated Trauma and Stress Disorder) and recognising my traits and situation brought me to this point.
3. Understanding the science behind the dopamine And thus the tremor.
Identifying trauma called Body Memories are also at play. I have become aware of my beliefs, rules and personality that contribute to overthinking overstressing and remaining in fight and freeze response.

“Take the course and start to believe in your own healing process”

The Overcome course has been like a lifeline dropped into my lap, providing a rope onto which I have pulled myself toward better health.

I have learned to prioritize my health, how to reduce stress in my life, and live life at a pace which allows my body and mind to heal.  The changes I have experienced in the past few months have been nothing short of amazing.
If you want to improve your health and get relief from Parkinson’s symptoms, I encourage you to explore this avenue and sign up for the next season of Lilian’s course.
She also offers individual therapy sessions which have personalized the journey for me and further deepened my healing experience

“I am no longer stuck in perpetual frustration"

Hello Lilian, I want you to know that I feel that I benefitted a lot from your course, “Overcoming Chronic Illness.”
It opened me to BEING ALIVE in a more relaxed, open and observant way.

Thanks to you, I am no longer “stuck in perpetual frustration” about everything!
And believe me, that is a monumental improvement!
New sources of frustration pop up minute by minute, and surely always will. But I’ve learned that I don’t have to react negatively and feel perpetually resentful about any or all of them. When things turn out to be harder than they appeared, and take longer than I ever imagine they will, I can call upon my “Mild Mindedness” to carry me through the difficulty. And that is much better than my previous “chronic frustration.”
I am slowly accepting that I shall never prove to myself or to the world that I am super human. So I am gladly giving up on that futile quest.
I am learning finally to accept that I am but one tiny part of the human game, just like everyone else. And I don’t have to take things quite so seriously every minute of the day.

Carla (Carlita from the book), Participant winter 2024-25

“ After only a month it is obvious that the course is exactly what I want. ”

The underlying theory and philosophy make total sense to me, which makes it so clear what one needs to do to improve and get better, like Pattie who spoke so wonderfully last night.

She was so much worse than I have ever been and in around 2 years has achieved incredible results.

The information is so valuable and ground-breaking, and if the medical profession were only more open-minded everyone could have this wonderful opportunity to turn the condition around and return to full health.

Thank you so much Lilian. <br>You are a lifesaver in every sense of the word, and I am so very grateful and appreciative both of the enormous amount of work and research that you have put into the setting up of this course, and the fact that you are also accessible and so generous with your time

“ I feel better indeed with hope, taking the priority of health in my own hands”

When you are diagnosed with Parkinsons and wish to infuse your life and being with hope, when you want to step out of the self-fulfilling prophecy of things just getting worse and worse:

Join the HOPEshortcut Overcome  Course ! Working with Parkinsons as a stress-related condition.

I’m deeply impressed by the dedication of both Lilian Sjoeberg and Gary Sharpe. They are a great team, complementing each other.
The course has a well-structured approach, with (scientific) information and practice, where e.g. we get and practice valuable tools for working with beliefs and mindset, and dealing with stress, for de-stressing.

Having participated in the course, I feel better indeed with hope, taking the priority of health in my own hands, greater vitality and a more joyful mindset. Thank you!

“Your blind spots”

The strategies that Lillian introduces are effective in helping me, for example, reducing the the symptomology that I have, such as tremoring that you recognize.

And you document when tremoring is worse, when it’s less. And then you start looking at what you’re thinking about the environment that you’re in, and how it affects your internal thinking, and how it affects your healthy being. Some of those incidences block you, you’re not really aware of, because they’re blind spots. Lillian helps us look at these areas that are blind to us as well.

“Unravel Parkinson's”

A lot of people with Parkinson’s don’t realize that they have these stress conditions, they say, I’m not under stress. So you just point out how to unravel it and also give you hope

“We are in a place of chronic stress”

The course looks at the idea of the fight flight and freeze syndrome and being stuck in it, and the general cases that we are in a place of chronic stress.

What it helps us do is to recognize some of these blocks that we have, and these stressors that we have, and take a look at it and go into a deep dive and kind of dismantle it.
So it help us recognize some of our areas that we need to work on.

“ When my mind relaxes, I become aware of physical sensations.”

The idea is to analyze what causes your symptoms: identify when you’re stressed, find ways to avoid it, and explore new ways to live, such as meditation, Tai Chi, or learning a language. Keeping my mind occupied helps me feel fine.

It’s important to acknowledge that everyone has experienced trauma, whether it’s recognized as PTSD or not. Even small events from early childhood can leave lasting impacts.
Lastly, healing takes time; it’s a slow process, and one wishes for a quick fix, but that’s not realistic.

“ The shared discussions in breakout rooms highlight our commonalities, which is beneficial..”

The fellow travelers aspect of this group is very important. Being part of this community is helpful as we all strive for the same goals, despite having different symptoms and experiences.

I found the emphasis on listening to intuition particularly impactful; ignoring it has led me to negative places in the past, and this knowledge will stay with me.
Learning new mindset skills to manage stress is crucial.
I’ve developed new habits, such as practicing yoga and walking, which help me feel calmer, more centered, and less symptomatic.
Patience is key; it’s essential to allow yourself the bad days, as they will happen. Although they may feel overwhelming, they are just temporary challenges.

anomously, Participant winter 2024/25

“ Fellow travelers in this journey are very important to me.”

I’ve been very out of touch with my own voice, often ignoring it and later regretting it. Now, I can hear and trust myself rather than the constant criticism.

I’ve been very out of touch with my own voice, often ignoring it and later regretting it. Now, I can hear and trust myself rather than the constant criticism.

I have always believed I can do everything on my own and didn’t want to be a bother. However, I’ve realized I’m stuck and need to confront what I’ve avoided my whole life.
Avoiding asking for help and remaining quiet in groups has been a huge problem. This group has allowed me to practice finding and using support, which has been empowering.
